What to do in Preparation for Your Wedding Ceremony
- Get your marriage license from the state in which you will be marrying. In our experience, you should get your license within the 30 days prior to the date of the wedding ceremony.
- Be certain that you have received a commitment
in writing from your chosen pastor or other officiant, that s/he will marry you at the time,
location and date you expect.
- Supply a map and/or driving directions to your officiant to help assure your officiant arrives in
a timely manner.
- Are there children to be blended into your marriage? If so, we recommend the use of Family Medallions as an excellent method of assuring your children know how important a role they are to play in this marriage. Inquire for details.
- Recontact your officiant sometime in the week prior to your wedding date. Review all pertinent information with your officiant.
- Be certain to bring your marriage license and personal documentation with you to the wedding.
No license = no legal marriage.
- If you have written your own ceremony,
bring an extra copy with you in case the
officiant has forgotten.
- Please pay your officiant in advance, or
before the service begins, as you will be otherwise occupied afterward.
